Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe for Fall – Time for Layering
The fall season brings so many colors – and challenges – for the minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall. The chill in the air presents a need to wear cozy, warm clothes that we can layer in case the chill suddenly turns warm next to a blazing fire or sudden change in the weather.Challenges are fun for a minimalist like me. I love finding new ways to spiff up my wardrobe with coordinating colors and extras to keep me warm, but stylish. I tend to choose classic items that last through season after season, but once in a while I love to add a new accessory.
Here are some items I love as basics for my minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall:
My idea of minimalism is to create a no-effort lifestyle and wardrobe. These essential items keep your base as is and you don’t feel the need to rush out and buy something trendy all the time.
The items are timeless and I always purchase quality to last. If I do get tired of an item or it wears out, I simply replace it. That keeps your closet clutter-free and the item you don’t need anymore can help another through a clothing charity.
Add some pieces that reflect seasonal colors to accessorize and perk up your minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall and that you can mix-and-match with other items in your base. Here’s an example:
Think about your activities during the fall months. Do you have events that are going to take you outdoors? If so, you’ll need a couple of items that are great for layering, such as a warm sweater and perhaps a trench coat for the occasional rain shower.
You’ll also want to include some practical items in your minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall. I love pieces that can take me from work to a dinner out and that can be accomplished with a nice scarf or other accessory added over a black turtleneck sweater
Comfort is my main mission when planning my minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall. I want to be comfy and cozy wherever I go so I can enjoy the occasion rather than having to look in the mirror or adjust some article of clothing.
I want to be as comfortable and free at a party as I am at home – but confident that my look is perfect for the occasion. Remember to plan your minimalist wardrobe for any season in a way that is best for you and your lifestyle.
Some of my favorite things for a minimalist capsule wardrobe for fall are the long-sleeved, striped t-shirt, a short sleeved t-shirt in black or white (get 100% cotton for comfort and quality), a trench coat in navy or khaki and black or navy pants.
My favorite splurge is a Cashmere sweater. Cashmere is classy and never goes out of style. Another favorite accessory is my all-purpose, plain and simple cross-body bag. It carries everything I need for the day.
I also love my Chelsea boots for a classic style for comfort and practicality. Those are my favs, but I still keep some ballet flats and running shoes for variation. I do splurge a bit on shoes and handbags for quality. I want the items I purchase to last for years.
Next time, we’ll chat about those cozy days of winter. It’s still about layering, but you’ve got to add some extra warmth to your minimalist capsule wardrobe.
